And yet another! This is Applejack, a G1/year 2 pony who sported some adorable freckles. The year 2 earth ponies sported nifty facial markings like freckles and forehead markings shaped liked diamonds. No other Earth ponies afterwards had such extra details. Applejack was re-released with her plastic mold-counterpart Bowtie, but with curly hair (they kept the freckles though!!)

Applejack was also featured in the first MLP special, and aside from a raspy voice and the tiniest hint of a pessimistic streak, she didn't have that discerning of a personality like Firefly and Twilight. Lots of people seemed to have pegged Applejack as the tomboy pony (some even made her a boy outright) and they were not alone. My Applejack was not only a tomboy, but a type of down-home country gal to boot. I guess those apples made me think she was a farmer of some kind. I also imagined her confident, friendly and robustly energetic, which I tried to portray in the pose and expression.

It just occured to me that Applejack is colored like a bright Palomino-- the type of horse that Trigger (Roy Roger's horse) was. Maybe that contributed to the country influence.
