Some of you may be wondering what I've been up to since my departure from MLP a couple years ago. Well, among other things, I've been helping my husband, Craig McCracken (the creator of Powerpuff Girls and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends), make his new show for Disney Channel: Wander Over Yonder starring Jack McBrayer!

And now, we can finally tell you just exactly when you can see WOY for the first time: Aug. 16 on the Disney Channel, right after the Phineas and Ferb Mission Marvel special! For a little taste, here's a little promo that aired on Disney Channel just a few days ago... Click me!!!

We do so hope you tune in for some serious super-cartoony silliness.

The Wildlife Learning Center Indiegogo fundraiser is over, and we've named a bunny Angel, and tortoise Tank, and raised $26,515!  The vast majority of the donations came from BRONIES, who continue to amaze me with their generosity!

I want to extend a huge THANK YOU to everyone who donated and spread the word. Though we did not reach our ultimate goal, this is still a huge sum and will be a huge help for the animals WLC cares for.

You all rock!

Thanks again,
Lauren

Today I'll be doing an MLP Q&A via Twitter to raise money for Wildlife Learning Center.

The first will be 12-12:30 pm PST, then I'll do another tonight 9-8 PST.

All yous gotsta do is send me a screen grab of your $25 donation and I'll answer anything about Season 1 OR about the general development of MLP:FiM or the characters featured in Season 1.

If you miss either one, let me know. If enough people are interested, I'll do another tomorrow at 12.

Remember, should we reach our goal of $48,000, WLC will host a Thank You Bronies Party in Sylmar, CA where you can meet me, Tara Strong, Amy Keating Rogers, Cindy Morrow and Meghan McCarthy! Please help donate or spread the word!

WLC Brony Thank You Party is growing!

Tue Apr 30, 2013, 9:44 PM
So... many of you may know that I've been helping my friends at Wildlife Learning Center raise money for the their Indiegogo campaign for badly needed funds to care for their amazing wild animals. (If you don't know what the heck I'm talking about, take a gander at my previous journal post here.)

We have an interesting development as far as incentives go. To recap, in addition to the great donation incentives offered at the Indiegogo site, for each $10,000 raised, WLC is naming one of their animals after MLP pets, and so far, we've raised enough to name a rabbit ANGEL and a salcuta tortoise TANK. Thanks to all who helped donate or spread the word!

If we should reach our ultimate goal of $48,000, WLC will host a Thank You Bronies party at their center in Sylmar, CA with me and Tara Strong---- but as of today, some more MLP staffers have offered to join the party!

AMY KEATING ROGERS, CINDY MORROW and MEGHAN MCCARTHY!

That's 5 MLP staffers, all in one place waiting around to talk to any brony who can make their way to Los Angeles for an afternoon. But we got to get all the way to $48,000 to make it happen!

If you live nearby --or close enough for the visit-- and want come see us and the animals, please spread the word and help us raise the funds WLC desperately needs! There is only 3 days left!!

We all hope (I mean, really, really hope!) to see you there!

**UPDATE 4/28 -- We have reached TANK TIER!!!! TANK TIER has been achieved!!! Thanks so much you all --- onward to OWLOWICIOUS!!!

CAN'T DONATE?? You can still help! JUST CLICK "LIKE" ON OUR INDIEDGOGO PAGE! The more activity our campaign gets, the better chance we have of being featured on the front page. If that happens, we'll have far more exposure to new people than ever before. Just a simple click could help us raise more to help the animals and get us closer to naming the animals, and to a party with me and Tara. **

**UPDATE 4/25 -- we have just $3300 to go before we name an amazing, enormous Salcuta Tortoise TANK!

**UPDATE! 4/21 -- We have reached ANGEL TIER! Repeat: We have reached ANGEL TIER! You guys seriously rock! Onward to TANK!!!**

...because it could happen!

My friends at the Wildlife Learning Center are fast approaching the deadline on their Indiegogo campaign to raise funds to care for the dozens of wild animals they provide a home for. So far, we've raised just over $6,000 of our $48,000 goal---- and most of it has come from the (not unexpected) generosity of people in the brony community.

Though we appreciate the money raised so far, it's not nearly enough for the special care these animals need. So, because I've told Wildlife Learning Center of the amazing generosity of bronies (Rarity would be proud!), Wildlife Learning Center would like to reach out directly to the brony community with some VERY SPECIAL THANK YOU INCENTIVES in addition to the great incentives from the Indiegogo site!

With each $10,000 increment reached, WLC has agreed to name one of their animals as a PONY PET and have their names proudly displayed in front of their enclosures.... permanently!

At $10,000, they'll name one of their bunnies, ANGEL! (very first sketch of Angel, BTW...)

At $20,000, they'll name one of the Sulcatta Tortoises, TANK!

At $30,000, they'll name a great horned owl, OWLOWICIOUS!

At $40,000, they'll name one of their alligators, GUMMY! (very first sketch of Gummy, as well, BTW...)

And finally, if the entire goal of $48,000 is reached, WLC would like to host a THANK YOU BRONIES PARTY
at the center, in Sylmar Ca! Not only will bronies be able to meet the newly named creatures, but the always-amazing and oh-so generous TARA STRONG!!!

(oh... and I'll be there, too.)

Many of you have already donated (thank you!) and many of you just cannot. But you can help get these little critters named and have a cute animal party with me and Tara by helping spread the word to other bronies. Any little bit of cash or personal publicity to the brony community will really help.

For more info about The Wildlife Learning Center, their amazing animals and their Indiegogo campaign to raise badly needed funds, please take a look at this previous journal entry.

My friends need your help!

Tue Mar 12, 2013, 4:10 PM
Some of you who have followed me in the past may know about this wonderful little zoo called The Wildlife Learning Center. WLC cares for a few dozen wild and exotic animals and treats them as "ambassadors" to help teach the public about wildlife conservation. What is so wonderful about WLC, is that many of the animals in there care are rescues. Many were illegally kept as pets and were either turned over or turned in to WLC for proper care. Others were animals born in the wild, but injury or acclimation to humans kept them from being able to survive in their natural habitats. Still others were exotic pets who grew too large or otherwise difficult to care for by their original owners. Without WLC, all of these rescued animals would be seriously ill or dead.

Besides offering animals topnotch care, WLC is an amazing place to visit. This zoo is small, so visitors get to see the animals more up close and intimately than larger zoos. Even better, many of their animals are trained to interact with people, so they are able to offer visitors one-on-one interactions with the animals! Everyone I know who has been to WLC loves it!

WLC is a nonprofit organization, and they rely on the public to raise the money they need to care for their animals and offer education to children and adults alike. This year, they find themselves struggling because of the economy. They need to raise $48,000 to get through 2013, so they are reaching out with an IndieGogo campaign.  Please check out their IndieGogo page and consider helping them out. Each donation level offers perks for anyone who can come to visit, such as free passes for you and guests and free "animal encounters" with creatures such as owls, sloths, porcupines, fennec foxes or even their great, big, beautiful Siberian Lynx, Boomer!!

If you donate, you'll be helping all these guys:

Cleo the Fennec Fox was kept illegally as a pet. He became extremely ill from improper veterinary care and suffered permanent neurological damage which still causes him to have seizures. Now that he lives at WLC, he has the special care he needs and his life is enriched by the other fennec foxes he gets to live with.

Eddie the Spider Monkey was born in a laboratory. He was destined to be used for research but luckily for him (ironically) his mother rejected him at birth and the lab did not want to care for a newborn, so Eddie was taken in by WLC. Now instead of enduring a life of small cages and medical testing, he gets to live happily in trees with other spider monkeys.

Danali the Bald Eagle was born in the wild. She was found with an injured wing that never healed properly despite rehabilitation. There is no way she could survive in the wild without being able to fly, so she now lives at WLC. I had never seen a bald eagle up close until I met her!

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Nanuk the Arctic Fox once lived a neglected, sad life in a FUR FARM! Now instead of being someone's coat, he lives in a large pen with plenty of enriching, natural elements with several other foxes to keep him company.

Fluffy the Alligator and his 2 siblings were purchased illegally as babies and raised in a bath tub with not much else to eat than hot dogs -- hardly a healthy diet. As a result, their growth has been stunted, and no one quite knows how old they are. They remain small but live happily now at WLC in a proper enclosure and offer visitors a rare close look at these magnificent predators!

To find out more about WLC and the animals they care for, visit them at www.wildlifelearningcenter.com

To donate to their IndieGogo campaign, please visit www.indiegogo.com/projects/wildlife-learning-center-needs-your-support-to-care-for-animals As little as $15 really helps!

Thank you!!
Lauren

BRONYCON Documentary is COMPLETE!

Sun Jan 20, 2013, 12:25 PM

It's finally finished! It's been several months in the making, and took the dedicated efforts of some very passionate people to complete.

For those of you who may not know, Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony is a documentary (Produced by Michael Brockhoff, Executive Produced by John de Lancie, Tara Strong and myself) that endeavors to enlighten anyone who may be curious about who this unexpected fandom is comprised of, and just exactly why these adults are so passionate about something that was never intended for them.

You can purchase the documentary for download HERE!!!!

A gigantic thanks to all the generous backers who funded the film on Kickstarter. Your enthusiasm and support ensured the film could be held to a very high production standard. Additional thanks to the contributors: the bronies who agreed to be interviewed and/or to share their stories, and the fan artists who lent their talents to provide music and animation. I'm so proud that this film is not only about such an amazing fandom, but also features what it is capable of!!!

I do have a request for those of you kind enough to purchase the film. We do hope you will share the film with your family and close friends, but please do not upload the film to the Internet (YouTube, etc.) Though we raised a nice chunk of change on Kickstarter, all the money went into the making of the film. There are several people who, in the name of making the film the best it could be, agreed to wait until AFTER the film was complete to receive their compensation. The money raised at this point is for them. Please understand that making entertainment is a livelihood. The money is needed to live lives, pay bills, rent and mortgages, to feed families. These projects cannot be made if those making it cannot make their living from it.

Additionally, if the film is available to view all over the internet, it disquailifies it from being entered into many film festivals and keeps it from being considered for airing on tv, cable or other entertainment outlets.  Not only does that keep the makers of the film from their due compensation, but it lessens the reach to the non-brony audience, keeping people from opening their minds to who bronies are.

John de Lancie offers a more complete explanation in his letter to Equestria Daily here.

Thank you for honoring our request, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the film!!!

With love,
Lauren

Come see Craig and me at REDCAT

Fri Oct 26, 2012, 11:58 AM
Before I get to that, I'd like to thank everyone who came by and FLOODED my DA page with kind words, support and all sorts of love after I found out I wasn't to be included in the DVD commentary for Season 1 of MLP:FiM.  I'm not sure yet why it happened, but hearing from so many people both here and at my Twitter assures me that I WON'T be forgotten when it comes to the adventures of a certain 6 fillies.  Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

So..... for all you Los Angelites (or anyone visiting right about now) my husband, Craig McCracken (creator of Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and Wander Over Yonder) and I will be speaking on a panel about "Life After College."  The two of us and some other amazing graduates from CALARTS will be speaking about how we navigated our careers after school and answering audience questions.  The panel will be held at REDCAT in LA on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 5 pm.

If you're going to be in or around Los Angeles next weekend (Sat. Oct. 13) please join me and animation voice actors Tara Strong and Tom Kenny for the Wildlife Learning Center's SAFARI SOCIAL FUNDRAISER!  Meet a two-toed sloth!  Feed a porcupine! Hold a Tawny Owl!

PET ONE OF THESE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wildlife Learning Center is a small, fantastic zoo in Sylmar, CA.  They care for a menagerie of exotic animals and train them as ambassadors to help educate the public about wildlife preservation.  Many of their animals are rescues from pet owners who kept them illegally, or rescues from the wild where various injuries would make their survival impossible.  The fundraiser is being held to raise money for the animals' care.

What's extra special about Wildlife Learning Center is that being a small zoo, you get the chance to see these animals up close!  And at these fundraisers, you also get the opportunity to interact with many of them as well--- something hard to come by at larger zoos.  To see photos of all the animals you can meet, please visit their website here.

Hope to see you there!

SBFF now online!

Sun Aug 26, 2012, 5:34 PM
DC Nation has posted 3 of the 5 SBFF!! shorts online for your viewing pleasure!  If you didn't catch them when they aired on Cartoon Network (*cough*and you're too ethical about copyright to watch them on YouTube *cough*) take a look and let me know what you think.  If people like them enough, maybe I'll get to make more!

Make sure you take a moment to vote for your favorite SBFF (Supergirl, Wonder Girl or Batgirl) at the the little poll on the right side of the page.

And while you're at it, enjoy this unused pose from the episode "Grounded." This was from a scene that ended up getting cut.  Wonder Girl and Batgirl were almost crushed by the tractor Superman deflected.

Comic Con!!

Fri Jul 13, 2012, 11:59 AM
I'm heading out the door to go to Comic Con in just a few.  I thought I'd drop a little update to let you all know where I'll be, just in case you want to say hi.

Saturday, July 14 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. (Room: 5AB) ---I'll be at the Disney Channel Television Animation Panel with my husband Craig McCracken to talk about our upcoming show WANDER OVER YONDER and premiere a SPECIAL SNEAK PEEK produced just for Comic Con!

Saturday July 14, 2012 5:00pm - 6:00pm @ Sails Pavilion ---Then Craig and I will be SIGNING AUTOGRAPHS.  Come on by and pick up a WANDER OVER YONDER PROMO POSTCARD and we'll scribble our names aaaaaaaall over it!

Haven't heard of WANDER OVER YONDER yet?  Well, give your eyes a gander below:

WANDER OVER YONDER — Emmy-winning producer Craig McCracken, among the most sought-after talent in TV animation, is the creator/executive producer of Disney Channel's upcoming Wander Over Yonder, an animated comedy series about best friends and epic enemies, set in surreal places across the universe. Wander is an overly-optimistic intergalactic traveler who, along with his loyal but bullish steed, Sylvia, goes from planet to planet helping people to live free and have fun, all against the evil reign of Lord Hater and his army of Watchdogs. The voice cast includes Jack McBrayer (30 Rock, Phineas and Ferb), Keith Ferguson (Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends) and Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants). McCracken created the Emmy-winning series The Powerpuff Girls and produced a feature film based on it. He also created the hit series Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends, which also won him an Emmy Award. Prior to creating his own shows, McCracken directed Dexter's Laboratory and worked on a variety of shows for Hanna-Barbera. Wander Over Yonder is a production of Disney Television Animation.

Also, there will be a MILKY WAY AND THE GALAXY GIRLS booth up and running.  I'll be popping in and out over there, but if I don't catch you, there's a big batch of signed MWGG books for sale. I've said it before, and I'll say it again:  Bronies never cease to amaze!  We've far surpassed our fundraising goal for the BronyCon Documentary.  Thanks to everyone who contributed and to all those who helped spread the word.

Please read this update from the BronyCon Kickstarter page...

Dear Princess Celestia,

What an amazing group of people Bronies and those who support Bronies are!

Twenty-four days ago we announced our dream of producing a documentary about the phenomenon of "My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic" and its dedicated fans who live its values in their daily lives. Well, not only have thousands of members of the Brony Community and other members of the public come forward to encourage us, enough of them have shown their generosity that we can make an even better film than we ever imagined! They also helped the project become the 2nd most funded film of all time on Kickstarter.

Thank you for your inspiration and the inspiration we have received, and will continue to receive, from people everywhere.

Your faithful students,

Tara, Lauren, John, Mike, Laurent & the rest of the crew.

Thanks to everyone who helped us reach our goal of $200,000!!!  You all never cease to amaze!  We still have a few more days of fundraising left---- if we get even further, the crew will get to film at some European Brony Conventions.  If you wanted to contribute and have not yet, please do so now.

Plus, new casting calls and an art contest!  Please read this blog update from our Kickstarter page below....

***please note!  Unless specified, the casting calls are looking for anyone who considers themselves a brony whether they are male OR female!!***

We are the 7th most funded film of all time on Kickstarter. We are climbing to the top with 6 days to go. Thank you everyone!

So what's the next goal? International. Once we get to $270k, we'll be adding a big trip to the itinerary. We'll film at the Galacon Convention in Stuttgart, Germany on August 11 & 12th and BUCK BronyUKCon in Manchester, England on August 18th and 19th .

== CASTING CALL ==

We are looking for MLP fans that fit these descriptions. If one of these sounds like you, please email your story, your name, phone number, city you live in and a picture to info@bronydoc.com

• Military Bronies who are living in Arizona specifically.

• A parent and son in his 20's who are both fans and have bonded over MLP.

• An adult Brony who has Aspergers, Autism or other syndrome or disorder and has been helped by the show.

• Bronies living in the Southern California area with interesting lives and stories to tell.

It is important to note, this is just one of a few rounds of casting. Because we are looking for specific stories does not mean we have excluded others. We have received lots of emails and already have stories we don't need to cast for. We are also still considering all stories already sent to us.

== ART CONTEST ==

We are running a prizes.org contest looking for one piece of art that will be issued as a limited edition print for contributors to the Kickstarter campaign.

The winner will receive a $500 cash price and have an opportunity to meet Tara Strong, Lauren Faust and John de Lancie at BronyCon.

The contest starts soon at:

Help the Bronycon Documentary

Mon May 28, 2012, 3:27 PM

Many of you My Little Pony fans may have heard the amazing news that John de Lancie, who played the infamous Q on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and who I was so honored to have play the villain Discord for MLP:FiM, has announced that he will be Executive Producing a documentary about Bronies and Bronycon.

The new news is that Tara Strong (voice of Twilight Sparkle) and I have been brought on board as Executive Producers, as well.  And to make this documentary as amazing as possible, we are reaching out to raise even more money for film on our Kickstarter page.  Please see the official announcement below:

We are pleased to announce that Tara Strong and Lauren Faust have joined us as executive producers of the documentary. Both bring amazing talent and exciting ideas that will help make this film even better.

We are also announcing a new funding push. The response to our casting call was overwhelming. There are so many amazing and inspiring stories out there. We can't tell them all, but with your help we can include lots of them. As you may know we started out as a documentary essentially covering a convention, which is taking place over a few days, but we want to do more. We want to take viewers into the homes of the amazing people who identify as Bronies. This costs money. We have to pay for travel and hotels, crew members and equipment rentals.

Our new goal is $200,000. So how do we get there? We've added some great rewards – so please consider upping your pledge. From having your pony OC drawn by Lauren to getting your Blu-ray disk and artwork signed by Tara, Lauren and John to having dinner with all three, we have something for everyone.

Please spread the word to help us drive toward the goal, which will help make this possible. If you know anyone who has not already made a pledge, please direct him or her to the Kickstarter campaign.

Please stop by our Kickstarter page and consider making a pledge.  You can also pledge via Paypal.  Even a small amount is a huge help.

BTW--- you should check out all the pledge levels, but there is one where the incentive is to receive ORIGINAL ART FROM ME OF YOU PONY OC!!  For those interested, I will draw your very own Pony Original Character in one of the styles seen at the bottom of this post.

Thanks to all who have pledged so far!

I am extremely honored to have been interviewed for LA Weekly, and included in their People 2012 issue "People 2012" with the likes of Liz Meriwether and Carrie Fisher and many other fascinating Los Angel-ites.  The interview was fun to do, and I'm relieved the photo turned out so nicely.

Favorite quote:  "Think of the girls," she told herself as she worked on the show. "They need to believe that the stuff they like isn't stupid."

UPDATE - THANK YOU!

Tue Apr 3, 2012, 8:31 PM
***UPDATE*** The auction is complete and the sketches raised over $18,000 for the Adams family!!!  I am humbled and inspired by your generosity.  Go Bronies!!!!!

***UPDATE*** check out the auction here!

This Thursday, April 5, Bento Box will be hosting a silent art auction at the Animation Guild in Burbank CA to benefit storyboard artist Joey Adams and his family.   I do not yet have the pleasure of knowing Joey, but the Los Angeles animation community is really rallying around him and his family's current crisis trying to save the life of one of their little boys--- only a couple years after tragically losing their 16-month-old daughter to a similar condition.  (You can read about Joey's story here.)

To help, my husband Craig McCracken (creator of the Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and the up-and-coming Wander Over Yonder) and I are donating some art.

I understand that many, if not all, pieces will be made available to bid on ONLINE.  I will be sure to provide updates as I have them.

***UPDATE*** The ebay auction will begin Friday, April 6 at 6pm PST, ending Sunday, April 8 at 9pm PST at
www.ebay.com/sch/supporttheada… (the link goes live on Friday)

In the meantime, here are some previews of the MLP:FiM art that will be featured in the benefit........

First, two pieces I drew especially for this auction, everyone's favorite G1 pegasus pair, Firefly and Medley!
