BRONYCON Documentary is COMPLETE!

Sun Jan 20, 2013, 12:25 PM

It's finally finished! It's been several months in the making, and took the dedicated efforts of some very passionate people to complete.

For those of you who may not know, Bronies: The Extremely Unexpected Adult Fans of My Little Pony is a documentary (Produced by Michael Brockhoff, Executive Produced by John de Lancie, Tara Strong and myself) that endeavors to enlighten anyone who may be curious about who this unexpected fandom is comprised of, and just exactly why these adults are so passionate about something that was never intended for them.

You can purchase the documentary for download HERE!!!!

A gigantic thanks to all the generous backers who funded the film on Kickstarter. Your enthusiasm and support ensured the film could be held to a very high production standard. Additional thanks to the contributors: the bronies who agreed to be interviewed and/or to share their stories, and the fan artists who lent their talents to provide music and animation. I'm so proud that this film is not only about such an amazing fandom, but also features what it is capable of!!!

I do have a request for those of you kind enough to purchase the film. We do hope you will share the film with your family and close friends, but please do not upload the film to the Internet (YouTube, etc.) Though we raised a nice chunk of change on Kickstarter, all the money went into the making of the film. There are several people who, in the name of making the film the best it could be, agreed to wait until AFTER the film was complete to receive their compensation. The money raised at this point is for them. Please understand that making entertainment is a livelihood. The money is needed to live lives, pay bills, rent and mortgages, to feed families. These projects cannot be made if those making it cannot make their living from it.

Additionally, if the film is available to view all over the internet, it disquailifies it from being entered into many film festivals and keeps it from being considered for airing on tv, cable or other entertainment outlets.  Not only does that keep the makers of the film from their due compensation, but it lessens the reach to the non-brony audience, keeping people from opening their minds to who bronies are.

John de Lancie offers a more complete explanation in his letter to Equestria Daily here.

Thank you for honoring our request, and we sincerely hope you enjoy the film!!!

With love,
Lauren

You know, we can all like whatever but why must we all make a big deal about it?

Awww do we really have to sign up to buy it? It's not so much the buying I'm worried about as the signing up on a website that requires your full name.

Why don't haters just shut up? We Bronies can like whatever shows we want to like, whether you think it is socially acceptable or not. The truth is that you may hate and call it a "little girl show" but you're wrong. Have most of the haters even seen the show? Most likely not. The hate comes from ignorance, as I speak from experience; I was a hater before i actually watched a few episodes of the show, and now I love it. Although i do agree that rule 34 of MLP:FiM is creepy as f***

I hated the show because I thought the animation sucked. Whether or not it was based on a franchise like My Little Pony was irrelevant to me. A cartoon could be based off of any kind of franchise (or even just be something completely original), and if it were made the same way I would still hate it.

And I can certainly say that I've seen the show. It's everywhere, so how could I not? But I just didn't like what I saw.

I don't get the negative comments here, I think it's pretty awesome that the show's creator, voice actors etc are so involved with the fandom. :) I'd love to see this when I have a little spare cash; really it's not much to ask.

Think u can plz hav Shout Factory consider bringing us Blu Rays of MLP: FiM as they did Transformers Prime?
Also, if Shout Factory don't wanna bring us DVDs of MLP G1, think another home video studio (Lionsgate, Mill Creek etc) wld b happy to do MLP G1 DVDs?

Haven't seen this myself, but it occurred to me that free access to stuff on Youtube, etc can be and sometimes is a powerful means of getting lots of people to watch something. If films like this are really worth seeing, then maybe you do some kind of take on crowd funding and do, if X people buy it, then we'll release it for free (maybe post film festivals, etc).
