First pics of the new My Little Pony toys based on the show I developed and am currently producing.  View more pics here, down at the bottom of the page.

:eyepopping: Sometimes I kinda can't even believe this is happening. I mean, total childhood dream come true!! :boogie:

As far as I know, these are teaser prototypes.  I'm not very much part of the toy process--- I designed the characters (as seen in the art on the background piece) for animation, and the talented Hasbro artists did the sculpts, so I'm not sure what the final toys will look like.  For anyone curious, I DO know they are working on versions with rooted, comb-able hair, so don't go throwing out your little, plastic, heart-shaped brushes just yet!

I'm hoping more will show up as Toy Fair rolls out next. I've seen more prototypes than these, but have no idea what else Hasbro will be displaying.  If anyone stumbles across any more pictures, please share the link with me!

And yes, that's Applejack and Spike!!!

I dont like it when they make your ponies with the hair, they look so much better and truer to the characters when the hair looks like this.

This will definately be interesting!! MLP is a childhood love of mine, and watching the cartoons is one memory from being around 3 years old that remains strong!
The sweetness of cantering down memory lane when I found the old G1 cartoons from the '80s was like opening a lost chest of happiness.
When I viewed the G3 versions, however, I become disconnected - thought not completely.
I'd have to say my most disliked character from G3 was Rainbow Dash. "It's all about rainbows, darlings!!" ...it was more than enough to get under my skin.
With the new MLPs however, Rainbow Dash has been COMPLETELY redeemed, and now she is my favourite! Funny the way things go! :XD:

As for the toys, I'm going to watch with much interest. Okay, I'm a guy, but still... my passion for MLP grew as a 3 year old, so it remains in my mind unrestricted by gender, personally.
Though.. try telling that to dad... I think that he thinks I'm gay.. <<;;

I'm VERY impressed with the comeback, myself!! :meow:

And you say... you developed and produced..?
You realise that I'm going to have a very keen interest right here, right? ^^;
(Not just in the fact of producing MLP, which is an absolute favourite, but also the whole area of producing an animated series, and whatnot - recently I even pondered about taking an animation course, but am unsure at this particular point! ^^;
Life can be difficult sometimes when it comes to decisions..)

So the toys are based on the show and not the other way around? That's great. I think the show in the 80's helped MLP thrive for many years.
These little things are so precious. I saw a tiny screenshot from the upcoming show and I loved the atmosphere in the little town - the cozy wooden houses (the kind you would come across in a fantasy computer game) and the castle on the side of the mountain. I think you may be creating the Ponyland of my dreams here.

I hope that the show will be a big success. I just recently saw pictures of the prototypes that have "real" hair, and I dare say they are different, but very delicate, cute and likeable.
Now I hope that I will be able to see the new show here in Sweden someday.

Thank you. :heart:

Thanks for bringing back my two favorite G3 ponies (And turn Rainbow Dash into a pegasus in the process). I can't wait to see the new characters around here, the official Mlp site and online (A sneak peek for us, the fans, will be interesting).

As a collector, im showing a strong interest with the characters and i want to buy them all including the to-be-named winged-corn and the purple unicorn. :D

So happy to hear! I was happy Hasbro was willing to let me give RD her wings. "Dash" demands a character with a need for speed, don'tcha think?

I have to be careful what I reveal before the show's launch, but Hasbro has already announced the the purple unicorn is Twilight Sparkle (Twilight for short... "Sparkle" made it possible for us to legally use the name.} She's sort of the central character.

Okay 3 months left for the debut.

Ok, you're right, be careful, careful, careful. Maybe by end of September or the week before the premiere should be nice to show a sneak preview of the ponies. 'till then, i'll be wait for your finished work going into action, just like the all new Rainbow Dash.

I saw on the Hub preview a blue pony with rainbow hair with a rainbow as her symbol. Is that Rainbow Dash? If there's other known pony friends that will make an appeareance on the new show? Just let me know.

Is the Light blue pony with rainbow colored hair. Is that pony Rainbow Dash or a new character? And if you're bringing other well known ponies Like Pinkie Pie and Applejack appearing on the new show?

Congrats for the work doing the ponies. I consider myself a hardcore fan of your work and the ponies.

I love the G3 DTVs including the Twinkle Wish Adventure. However, I'm not so keen on the new toys, especially when Hasbro went all Core 7. But THIS is something that I might see myself buying. It has CHARACTER! I can't wait to see animation based on this design.

Not sure when Pony will premiere, but it will be soon after the launch of the Hub.

They're very modern looking, too, which is always a good thing, and from what I can see, they really work for the show design. Now I can't wait to see the show. I watch DK all the time for Time Warp Trio =P so that just gives me another reason to watch that channel (despite my family making fun of me for my childish interests... they'll just have to deal lol)

I've got to agree with you about the anime thing, Fyre-Flye. I hate it when people assume that something is anime because of big eyes, small noses, etc. It happens to me all the time, even though it's obvious that I don't draw anime. I can understand why people get confused, but, yeah... it gets a bit bothersome. Just had to put that out there.
Anyway, since I last commented, I've started to love these even more. They're growing on me. I understand why people don't like it when mlp changes (I'm a collector, so I see a lot of that :P ), but there's nothing we can do about it. We just kind of have to accept the change and learn to love it :]

I'm really glad you like them! I'm a collector, too, and I don't blame any old school pony fan who doesn't like them. When I first started designing them, I tried to give them the straight more horse-like bridge-of-the-nose. But even though it makes a great sculpt, I could never get it to work for the animation I want to do. It's hard to get expressiveness if you can't see both eyes at all times, and from the front, the larger noses always look like pigs. These designs are where I landed, with tweaks for Hasbro. I hope people are happy with them once they see the show.

You could always try to do what they did with G3s - slightly different styles for toys and cartoons. You could, for example, make all-plastic sculpts that look exactly like the characters, and use the style you've mentioned above to make ponies with combable hair. I'm sure everyone will love the variety (the kids, collectors and customizers)

I want you to know that this makes me so happy! Applejack's hair is too cute, and I'm thrilled to hear you will be involved in their new cartoon.

I'm surprised anybody is making complaints on your design though, they're certainly not 80's style ponies, but c'mon... how could this NOT be better than the huge-headed cheap-o ponies out right now. :P

No.

Just......no.

My Little Ponys' should look like a little pony. They have done the Bratz thing, and are now doing the Anime thing - am I the only thing that thinks that is just wrong? MLP are ripping off other styles - in my opinion they started their own very popular style that was perfectly good. Perfectly MLP.

So are Hasbro now making My Little Bratz? My Little Anime? I do wish wish they would bring back regular My Little Pony.

I like the idea of bringing back AJ and Glory/Sparkler, however I want My Little Pony. I don't want Bratz. I don't want anime.

I just want My Little Pony.

I think it's more of a Powerpuff Girls thing, if anything :D It should work great for the show. As far as the toys alone go, I do prefer G3s (the toys, not the drawings. Not a fan of huge chubby cheeks). The alicorn is not really my cup of tea either, but it's nowhere near as bad as G2s were. I do agree that her pose and expression look a bit anime-ish, but it's hard to judge before the show is out. I don't think any of them look like Bratz. Bratz ponies look like glamorous stuck-up pigs. I would prefer Spike to be oldschool though. He's a bit too round for my taste here :)

I don't think my drawings look anime at all. Big eyes does not always = anime.

Sorry you don't like it. I totally understand MLP purists, I really do. I personally dislike the current pony designs, but I don't think they look like Bratz either.

I hope I win you over when you see the show.

I love them!

I can actually tell that you had a hand in the character design, so kudos to the Hasbro sculptors for capturing that so well!

I squeed when I saw that Spike and AppleJack were back. I really like the more varied cast and not just the Core 7 or whatever they are calling it now. But maybe I just miss Firefly and Twilight X3.

If the actual toys look like these prototypes...I am picking a few up for sure!

oooh.. I'd love it if Twilight was in the new show :D I watched the cartoon series when I was little and I've seen a few episodes recently, but I always felt as if Twilight was the pony I never got to know properly, if that makes sense (it didn't help that the cartoon series was shown in Lithuanian, which I didn't really speak that well at that age). I remember that I fell in love with her design when I was 4 or 5 and just got my hands on the first my little pony comic book sold in my country, but she was just a background character in the stories. I could say the same about Gingerbread. But if those two never get into the show, I'd still be delighted to see Moondancer, Gypsy, Surprise or Sparkler (could it actually be Sparkler in the background? :excited:). I think I'm getting too hopeful now, but in any event, I'd still be happy just to see Pinkie Pie turn into something a bit more interesting than a boring marketable cash cow version of Up Up And Away.

Wow!! I can't wait to see these designs in action. All I can remember is how much fun the originals were, so many moms and young adults are going to be so stoked to see their childhood cartoons not wrecked for once...

Also, on a surreal note, I know both of the first two posters IRL but I don't think they know each other IRL. Made me double take.
