Season Wrap UpWell, season 2 has finally come to a close,  and I'm sitting here and looking back on it all, with a few thoughts I want to share.
I just want to say thank you (again) to everyone that watched and enjoyed the MLP season finale this weekend.  There were lots of hard nights and long hours from all of us on the DHX crew to make it the best would possibly could.  Of course, there are things that are always going to be imperfect, but overall from what I gather, it seemed well-received.
I was also shocked at how many people recognized my OC pony that made a small cameo in this weekend's episode.  As a blanket response to a lot of the same questions I've been getting all weekend: No, I did not voice her and I'm unsure as to who did.  I would assume just one of the regular VA's.  She was put in kind of last minute.  The artist who drew her in the storyboard, made her look like my pony (just a coincidence), and after seeing i

other stuff I doFINALLY! It's been a long time, but for those wondering what I've been doing all these months that I haven't been posting any new art, I have something to share.

Help the Bronycon Documentary
Many of you My Little Pony fans may have heard the amazing news that John de Lancie, who played the infamous Q on Star Trek: The Next Generation, and who I was so honored to have play the villain Discord for MLP:FiM, has announced that he will be Executive Producing a documentary about Bronies and Bronycon.
The new news is that Tara Strong (voice of Twilight Sparkle) and I have been brought on board as Executive Producers, as well. And to make this documentary as amazing as possible, we are reaching out to raise even more money for film on our Kickstarter page. Please see the official announcement below:

DerpyIt seems there has been alot of buzz about Derpy being "fixed". I saw the New version of Derpy in "The Last Round-Up" and I do admit it didn't settle well with me. I still enjoyed the original. I didn't like the reason why they had her change. It didn't seem at all offensive in my opinion. When I first saw the scene in the animatic, I literally burst with joy. But I had a feeling that it might not settle with some fans and some people. Especially since people already have their own version of Derpy and people might get the wrong idea of her character.
Its not often that cartoons show fan content. Cause sometimes when you include Fan content, it usually can result to something negative (to fans or to others). And sometimes it also endangers the identity/essence of the show. Or if people like it, they will probably expect a lot more.To the point they might expect TOO much. So you could imagine my surprise when they decided to name Derpy and give her a voice.

Big question for Americans + animals - PHOTOSHi

At first, there is a question I wanted to ask the Americans for years

I know it is completely silly to judge anything through movies, but...
Ok, the question of life and death:
Do you Americans REALLY enter your houses and flats with your shoes on?
I mean - in every movie or TV serie, people always get into their homes and walk through all the rooms with their shoes on. And there are so many scenes with teenagers jumping to their beds (!!!!!) right after getting back from school, still wearing shoes!

For example in the Czech republic, it would be culturally unacceptable to enter the main rooms with shoes still on

Awesome Things I Can't Talk About

Over the weekend I've been helping out with a secret animation project with a not-so secretly talented group of artists. I've made some pony-related backgrounds and I REALLY want to share them and talk about how excited I am about this project...
But I can't! Weren't you listening, it's Super Secret!
All I can say is, that it will be released in a few weeks and I'm really amazed by the work going into this.
Since I can't talk about Fight Club, instead, let me ask all my awesome friends a srs question- There are plenty of background and show ponies we want to see made into official Hasbro toys. But after last week's appearance by Blossomforth in the show, I'm curious whether there are any other toys, either Brushables or Blind Bag Ponies, who you would like to see given their shot in the spotlight in an episode?
Personally I love Honeybuzz simply because she has an adorable, chubby bee as a cutie mark.

I loved it.
The FiM team is amazing, and I am consistently impressed with the work they do on each episode.
I marvel at the believability they breathe into the world and the characters. From the writing to the music to the animation. Each component is seriously and thoughtfully composed... The emotions of the characters feel genuine, and because the characters take themselves seriously, the viewers connect with them.
Cartoons/animations/comics have immense power... and it makes me so happy to see a cartoon that finally takes that power seriously. Most people dismiss the idea of cartoons being serious, and that is a tragic mistake... Cartoons are symbolic in their expression, and the more "simple" they are, the more symbolic they may become. My Little Pony is the perfect example of this. The designs are simple, but the symbolism is rich with meaning and substance (because the creators care). This is why it is a good show.
Children deserve to be taken serious

DC Nation starts 2morrow- plus watch me on the webDC Nation begins tomorrow morning at 10 am on Cartoon Network! I really encourage everyone to check out ALL the DC Nation shorts. This program from Warner Bros. and DC offered a really great opportunity for artists, giving creators unprecedented freedom to do their own take on these classic characters. It's a refreshing creative agenda and one that really deserves support.

This Thursday, April 5, Bento Box will be hosting a silent art auction at the Animation Guild in Burbank CA to benefit storyboard artist Joey Adams and his family.   I do not yet have the pleasure of knowing Joey, but the Los Angeles animation community is really rallying around him and his family's current crisis trying to save the life of one of their little boys--- only a couple years after tragically losing their 16-month-old daughter to a similar condition.  (You can read about Joey's story here.)

To help, my husband Craig McCracken (creator of the Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends and the up-and-coming Wander Over Yonder) and I are donating some art.

I understand that many, if not all, pieces will be made available to bid on ONLINE.  ~~I will be sure to provide updates as I have them.~~
